Depression can look like sadness, but just as often it looks like exhaustion, irritability, numbness, or simply going through the motions. Our practice is named for the moment the weight finally lifts, and depression counseling in Johnston, RI is where much of that work happens.

Therapy for depression at Until It Lifts combines warmth with structure. We use CBT to work with the thought patterns that keep mood low, behavioral activation to rebuild routines and connection, and DBT skills for managing painful emotions without being swept away by them.
We also pay attention to what sits underneath: unresolved loss, chronic stress, burnout, or trauma. Many of our Rhode Island clients are high-functioning on the outside while feeling flat or stuck on the inside, and we take that experience seriously.
We set small, concrete goals early and build from there. If medication might help, we can coordinate with your primary care provider or psychiatrist in the Johnston or Providence area.
If low mood, exhaustion, or loss of interest has lasted more than two weeks and is affecting work, school, or relationships, it is worth talking to someone. A first conversation with us is a low-pressure way to find out.
